Trip with french-speaking guide (translator on demand)

Come and enjoy the splendors of spring in Stockholm. In Scandinavia, life flows gently and the light spreads out in sumptuous colors.

After the winter frosts, the “Venice of the North” is reborn like a beautiful seasonal plant, and the cultural life, already flourishing at other times of the year, bursts with vitality and youthfulness. We invite you to discover this fascinating city built on water (fourteen islands linked by bridges !) and to appreciate the new generation of Swedish artists.

The Royal Opera of Stockholm will be presenting two shows : Verdi’s La Traviata, performed by Ida Falk Winland‘s fabulous Violetta, and Midsummer Night’s Dream, choreographed by Alexander Ekman and celebrating the spring solstice.

Luminous!

You will be met at the airport by your La Fugue tour operator and your English-speaking guide, followed by a private transfer to the Millesgarden Museum.

Discovering Stockholm is always a dazzling experience. Water is everywhere in the “Venice of the North”: built on fourteen islands in the heart of an archipelago of some 24,000 islands and islets, the Swedish capital breathes in tune with nature. You’ll have the chance to find out for yourself when you visit the Millesgarden Museum for a welcome “Light Lunch”. This delightful house, once owned by the sculptor (and Rodin pupil) Carl Milles, is the ideal place to acclimatise to Stockholm’s enveloping mildness. There are wonderful views from its open-air sculpture garden.

Private transfer to your hotel, Le Grand Hotel.

After settling in at the hotel, it’s time for the whirlwind of passions in La Traviata by Swedish soprano Ida Falk Winland, one of the great singers of the new generation of Scandinavian singers.

At 7p.m., at the Royal Opera House of Stockholm :

LA TRAVIATA, G. Verdi

La Traviata is the story of a woman who chooses to follow her heart in a society ruled by convention. Since its premiere in Paris in 1852, it has become one of Verdi‘s most performed and best-loved works.

Verdi’s opera is performed here in the setting of the Royal Opera House in Stockholm with a predominantly Swedish cast, including the formidable Alfredo played by tenor Joel Annmo, and of course Violetta played by Ida Falk Winland. Ellen Lamm‘s staging offers a fresh and respectful vision of Violetta Valéry’s deeply moving story.

After the show, dinner in a gastronomic restaurant a few steps from the Opera.

Night at your hotel.

SATURDAY 11 MAY - STOCKHOLM

Breakfast at your hotel.

Accompanied by your French-speaking guide, we set off to discover Stockholm’s historic city center.

Gamla Stan is the city’s oldest district : its maze of cobbled streets is a delight to visit, with its brightly-coloured houses and numerous buildings dating mainly from the 18th and 19th centuries. Other emblematic buildings include Stockholm Cathedral and the spectacular Royal Palace, one of the largest palaces in Europe and the official residence of the Kings of Sweden.

Lunch in town after the visits.

In the afternoon, we’ll celebrate the spring solstice with a dance !

At 3p.m., at the Royal Opera House of Stockholm :

Midsummer Night’s Dream – Ballet in 4 acts

Dancers of the Royal Swedish Ballet

Alexander Ekman : Choreography

Music :  Mikael Karlsson

Costumes : Bregje Van Balen

Premiered at the Royal Opera House in 2015, Alexander Ekman‘s A Midsummer Night’s Dream has established itself as one of the great choreographic performances of recent years. The spring solstice is in fact a great popular tradition in Scandinavia, and Ekman, who regularly works for the best dance companies (including the Paris Opera Ballet) brings a reading of it full of humour and energy.

Free time after the ballet.

After the theatrical and choreographic magic, we invite you to enjoy the dream of a spring night in the Stockholm archipelago during a private musical cruise and dinner on board.

Night at your hotel.

SUNDAY 12 MAY - STOCKHOLM

Breakfast at your hotel and check-out. Your luggage can be left in a safe place at the hotel.

Paris has the Louvre, Florence the Uffizi Museum and Stockholm boasts the Vasa Museum. While the Swedish capital is packed with museums of international stature, Vasa is certainly the city’s most astonishing institution

The museum is home to the best-preserved 18th-century warship in the world. In 1628, the ship sank off the coast of Stockholm on her maiden voyage, and it was not until 1961 that the vessel was salvaged in an exceptional state of preservation. Today, we marvel at these original items, including almost 14,000 wooden objects found on board, which bring back to life an era thought lost forever. It’s a fabulous journey through time and imagination.

After the visit, lunch before continuing our discovery of the charms of green Djürgarden. There’s no escaping the charm of the verdant Skansen Park, a vast open-air museum retracing the Swedish way of life of past centuries, the Thiel Gallery, dedicated to art and home to one of the world’s largest collections of works by Edvard Munch, or the vast Royal Djurgården Park, which invites nature into the heart of the city.

Around 4.30p.m., private transfert to Stockholm Airport.

Recommended flight:

Depart from Stockholm airport on 12 May 2024 at 7.20pm (Air France flight AF 1063).
