A journey like an invitation to enjoyment. First, the eyes are ravished with the superlative collections of the Pinacoteca di Brera and the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana, where you can marvel at works by Raphaël, Vinci, Caravaggio and Botticelli. Second, the palate is transported by the incomparable gastronomy of the Lombardy region, to be enjoyed on the street or in one of the welcoming trattoria that complete Milan’s charm. Why not top off the feast with ice cream, in one of countless flavours, savoured under the Columns of San Lorenzo? When it comes to sensuality, like a soft caress, you can run your fingers through the luxurious fabrics of the Quadrilatère d’Or designers and (who knows?) fall for one of their supremely elegant creations!
All the senses will thus be awakened to enjoy the irresistible Elixir of Love of the Teatro de la Scala, a euphoric musical since its creation in Milan in 1832. Donizetti’s masterpiece combines the force of comedy and a romantic depiction of sentiment with unparalleled verve. To enhance this jewel of Bel Canto, La Scala has roped in the formidable Ambrogio Maestri, one of the great Italian baritones, alongside a young and ardent couple, formed by Vittorio Grigolo and the delightful Rosa Feola.

Irresistible Elixir of Love! In this variant of the famous Myth of Tristan, the magic potion is really a bottle of Bordeaux wine that stirs up a whirlpool of romantic feeling in the gullible Nermorino. We can count on Director Grischa Asagaroff, who wrote Elixir of Love in 2015 at… the airport of Milan, to bring the necessary touch of madness to Donizetti’s work. We will leave with a smile on our faces and music in our heads. Playing the role of Dulcamara, the charlatan doctor, Ambrogio Maestri has all the wit required by his character, supported by the vocal onslaught of leading tenor Vittorio Grigolo as Nemorino. A valuable highlight: the sublime aris “Una furtiva lagrima” interpreted by the marvellous Neapolitan soprano Rosa Feola.
